From the Archives: Fabulous Fashion Friday-June 24, June Cleaver Dress Revisited

If any of you fashion history buffs remember the "Beave" and his lovely 1950's mom, June Cleaver, you may have fond memories of her utterly perfect housewife dresses, with the full skirts, tiny waists, sleeveless square necklines paired with simple pearls and sensible pumps.  And although this function-meets-feminine design really never went away, we are seeing a resurgence of this vintage classic on the runway and now in stores.

Kick It just received an absolute beautiful example by Willow & Clay (100% cotton, fully lined, $78). So today's post focuses on just this dress, paired with a few modern accessories to give this nifty 50's look a current appeal but still leave you craving a meatloaf , mashed potato and cherry pie dinner. Enjoy!

Creamy white Salvatore Ferregamo vintage pumps (found at Value Village, $19)  are so perfect with this dress.

Instead of pearls, I choose a lace-n-pom pom scarf to soften the square neckline.

Gorgeous "antiquary" poppies flower print, but in updated muted colors. (Seanite clutchette, $38).
Cute back drape of the scarf adds an Audrey Hepburn feel.

The pleats on the skirt add volume, swirl and femininity.
Be inspired today to find your own expression of this nostalgic look starting with the perfect, classic dress.

Happy Friday!
