FROM THE ARCHIVES: Fabulous Fashion Friday, April 13, 2012: Crochet Magic

Spring blossoms and hints of summer spark a yearning to wear floral sundresses, but it's still a skosh chilly to go fully bare-arm, so we worked a little magic with the season's amazing crochet (aka "loose knit") sweaters, showing up in an array of bright colors.  These perfect layering pieces turn a strappy maxi into a perfectly polished ensemble.  Here are two examples to spark your interest:

Blue on Mod
Take this "mod" floral-print tank-top maxi dress, throw this boxy loose-knit sweater on top and cinch it up with a bright blue belt.  Magic!
I love the way the blue sweater picks up the blue in the flowers. Get this entire look for about $74.

The artsy knit pattern in this sweater by Deep L.A. ($36)  looks like crochet magic, .

Goldenrod on Tribal
Here's an interesting tribal print maxi dress with spaghetti straps that we covered up with a 3/4 sleeve loose knit nubby sweater in goldenrod.  We skipped the belt this time and let the sweater hang loose and allow the silhouette of the dress to show through.  A nice add-on would be slender Navy blue silk scarf draped down the front, or, a super long beaded necklace would add a little pep, too.

Golden rod is a surprising flattering color on most skin type.  Get this outfit for about  $68.

I love the way this nubby knit adds warmth, texture and allows the skin to show through.
