Time for Wine & Navy Blues

Winter poses a style challenge: How to look cute and feel great now--while waiting for new Spring styles to emerge.   Below are three new looks at Kick It--with a focus on our favorite winter colors Navy Blue & Burgundy--to answer that challenge.  Each look begins with Navy Blue fleece-lined tights (warm!), a Navy Blue body-hugging cammie (hidden but so helpful!) and the versatile Medici blue-grey Olivia boot (gorgeous!).

Look #1: 50 Shades of Gray-Blue

Navy blues  can vary wildly, but when mixed up together create a soothing palette of confidence and style...the gentler alternative to greys & blacks.
Pairing a skin-tight mini skirt with a boxy long sleeve cowelneck sweater creates balance.
We are in LOVE with Lurex--that sparkling thread that runs through sweaters to add dazzle and depth.   When mixed with navy (versus black or red) it feels classic versus night-cluby.
The perfect Winter look, no accessories required.

Look #2: The Wine & Navy Mosaic

Here's a colorful daytime look perfect for the office or a winter stroll through Pike's Place Market.  We've paired a  long-sleeve textured cowel neck with a stretchy-yet-body conforming pencil skirt and the tall flat-heel boot to stay warm but still show off some curves! You may notice that each piece is a block of color, stacked to create a Picasso-worthly mosaic on our model.
The back vent in the pencil skirt  adds flair and allows for movement in this otherwise body-conforming outfit.
Deep navy blue "slubs" (nubby bits of thread) infuse this sheer knit wine-colored sweater, which ties the whole look together.
Overall this outfit is a smart-enough for work,  warm-enough for winter, easy for a quick change on those dark Winter mornings, colorful and comfortable!

Look #3: She Wore Bluuuuuuue Velvet!

Who says you can't wear velvet everyday?  We took our favorite stretch velvet dress (brought in for New Year's Eve) and dressed it down for a fabulous, fresh everyday winter look with pizzazz.
It's really quite simple: transition that sexy velvet mini-dress you wore for New Year's Eve with a colorful pashmina, flat boots & dark opaque tights for a perfect happy-hour with the girls look  or a weekend trip to the museum.
Put navy over navy and this dressy mini-skirt now reads more like a casual tunic.  The knee-high riding boots anchor the more casual look.
We love the way the printed pashmina adds a pop of burgundy & pink, and picks up the grey in the boots.

Consider adding a some navy blue and wine to your winter wardrobe now for a deep, rich, colorful alternative to our Seattle default of greys and black.  And, if you can find unique pieces in velvet and/or with sparkles, even better!

Have a Fabulous~Fashionable~Week!
