It's January, and the weather can be blustery, cold and drab, but the days are getting longer and sunshine is just around the corner. So I styled a few cozy Winter outfits with a focus on color paired with three swishing maxi skirts and of course boots, to perk us up and keep us going through the chilly season!
For my first look, I styled a lavendar outfit with a tribal print maxi on my model. The drape of the dark scarf brings an elegance to the ensemble, while the long sleeve sweater and boots bring a bulky, bright, cozy feel.
Traditionally, maxi skirts are worn in the Spring & Summer, but I bucked that tradition and--by layering warm tights and boots underneath--made them wearable all winter long.
This 100% cotton cable knit sweater just arrived ($32) and is also available in: deep red, grey and light pink. |
The two shades of purple and two-types textures form a sense of togetherness.
The surprise underneath this long feminine maxi skirt is a pair of edgy "mannish" lace up Oxford boots.
Pairing boots and leggings under a maxi skirt make them totally wearable in the Winter. |

My second ensemble showcase teal. Some blues can feel cold in the winter, but teal is warm and rich. I added a contrasting Missoni print scarf ($22) with a Freebird print maxi ($36) for a bohemian-chic feel. The two contrasting prints each carry a hint of teal to tie it all together.
I styled the scarf almost like a cowl so that it adds to the outfit instead of hiding it. |
Kick It received several gorgeous print pashima scarves this week, $18 to $26. |
The teal mock-turtleneck top is the perfect background for the model's necklace, by Seattle jewelry designer, Frankie Says. I love the way the gold necklace connects with the golds in the scarf.
Frankie Says 14K Gold & Moss Agate stone pendant are the model's own. More gorgeous Frankie Says jewelry is available for sale at our sister shop, Ponytail Jewelry Studio. |

And lastly, I had to show off the bright and beautiful color fuschia. When wearing such bold pinks, especially during the winter, it's good to tone them down with darker shades of pink or grey's rather than black. To demonstrate, I added a multi-shade pink-n-grey scarf to help break up the solid color of the sweater and "connect" it to the charcoal grey maxi skirt by Elan, $46
.
From the back, you can see the gorgeous drapes of this skirt and how well the grey works with the pink.
I love the way the two soft knits perfectly blend together. |
Another peek at those all-leather lace up boots by Medici, $156. |
So get cozy and a little wild this winter by wearing your favorite bright colors with a maxi skirt. You will feel amazing and look great too!
Vous ĂȘtes beau!
